Many shots with a lower xG, or fewer shots with a higher xG? Whichever xG based attacking philosophy you may believe in, what counts in the end is the ball ending up in the back of the net. In this piece we will be taking a look at which U23 players across Europe's Big 5 Leagues (Serie A, Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) have the highest G/Sh (Goals Per Shot) ratio with at least 7 goals scored so far this season.

*Data is from Stats Bomb*  *Italicized number value per player is G/Sh ratio*

Hugo Ekitike (19 yrs, CF, Stade Reims) - .35 G/Sh (8 goals)

Emile Smith Rowe (21yrs, AM, Arsenal) - .32 G/Sh (8 goals)

Jonathan David (22 yrs, CF, Lille) - .30 G/Sh (12 goals)

Randal Kolo Muani (23 yrs, CF, Nantes) - .28 G/Sh (7 goals)

Vinicius Junior (21 yrs, LW, Real Madrid) - .24 G/Sh (12 goals)

Some very interesting and well known players on the list. Jonathan David and Vinicius lead the group with 12 goals a piece. David, specifically, has the interesting statistic of 12 goals and a G/Sh ratio of .30, .06 higher than Vinicius. Ekitike is a fascinating one, for a player who is only 19 years of age to be leading the pack with a G/Sh value of .35 and 8 goals already this season. Definitely a player to watch!
