A legendary quote from one of the Godfathers of the pressing style of play. In this week's short piece we highlight the top 10 pressing teams (in terms of Successful Pressure Percentage) across Europe's Big 5 Leagues.

The fascinating thing about this list is the fact that six of the ten teams are from the German Bundesliga (RB Leipzig, Koln, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen), with the top four being from the Bundesliga as well. Aside from the Bundesliga teams, we have one Serie A side (Atalanta), one La Liga side (Barcelona) and two Ligue 1 sides (Monaco, Saint-Etienne). Seeing such a variation of teams, and where they are in their respective domestic league tables, just shows that playing a pressing style of defense can vary in results, but is all about club culture. The Red Bull clubs across the world are number one on their emphasis of pressing, so it is no surprise that they are #1 on the list, and that their domestic league has the most clubs on this list. Ralf Rangnick brought his philosophy when he was at Red Bull Leipzig a few years back, and his disciples have spread this philosophy of defensive play across the league. Pressing in football, is truly the future.
