Having spent the last season on loan at Genoa from Juventus, the 20 year old, Nicolo Rovella, has returned to the city of Turin to try and cement a place in the Juventus team for the 2022/2023 season. His numbers above present a strong case for why Juventus should keep him on board past this summer. Rovella plays as a defensive midfielder, as a deep lying playmaker, or as the Italians call a "regista". He directs the game right in front of his own defense and uses his vast passing range to control the tempo of games. He has brilliant physical qualities in terms of his balance and agility. It is for these reasons that I feel he could even play in higher areas of the field, potentially as an 8 or a 10. Looking at Nicolo's stats, he sits in the 90th percentile for assists and 93rd percentile for shot-creating actions, while also in the 29th percentile for pass completion and 33rd percentile for progressive passes. This variety in stats is fascinating given his pass completion and progressive passes struggle yet he sits high up in regards to assists and shot-creating actions. What this may tell us is that Nicolo attempts some difficult passes, where the percentage of it being effective is low, but the danger to the opposition's goal is high!
